What to expect from Advanced Alternative Healthcare
Your First Visit
When
you arrive at AAH for your scheduled appointment, you can expect to find
a peaceful atmosphere in our relaxing waiting room. You will be assisted
by our friendly front-desk staff, who will help you fill out the necessary
paperwork to register with our practice. You should plan to arrive at
least twenty minutes before your appointment time so that there is adequate
time to complete the paper work. If you like, you can also download and
print the New
Patient Intake form (you must have Adobe
Acrobat Reader) fill it out, and bring it to your first visit.
After a short wait, our nurse will guide you to the
exam and treatment room. She will briefly discuss the reasons for your
visit and take your vital signs.
Examination and Treatment
During your initial visit, Dr. Douglas will perform a full medical history
and physical exam. He will also perform an osteopathic structural exam
in which he will evaluate your neuromusculoskeletal system. Dr. Douglas
will also perform Chinese tongue and pulse diagnosis to assist in diagnosis.
After your initial evaluation, Dr. Douglas will discuss your diagnoses
and potential treatment options. These treatment options include osteopathic
manipulation, acupuncture,
herbal therapy, conventional
medication, dietary recommendations, hypnosis,
exercises, physical therapy, and more. Together, you and Dr. Douglas
will develop an individualized treatment plan.
Subsequent Visits
Subsequent visits will begin with a reevaluation of your current problems
and response to treatment. Another osteopathic physical exam will help
Dr. Douglas determine further recommendations on tests or treatment options
as your condition changes. Your treatment may include OMT, acupuncture,
hydrotherapy massage, herbal and dietary supplements, depending on your
treatment plan.
